Jessica's Dirty Laundry - A Tutorial

I had put it out there that I would make a laundry bag for whoever was the first to ask, and Jessica, kindly lent her unmentionables to the project ;)

Sew, heres what you need: basic sewing supplies and a yard or a bit less of your chosen woven fabric cut into 1) four strips 4inX10in 2) the body of the bag 2 1/2 ft by 4ft and3) about 2ft bias tape - and dont cut corners on this one, make it true bias tape.
start with your four strips, folding them on themselves the long way and sewing two of the sides.
then clip the corner, trim the sides, turn it right side out, and press (all steps shown)
top stitch each tie

(not pictured): sew closed two sides of the large bag - one short and one long, opposite the fold.

with the top of the bag being the not-sewn side, stack two sets of two ties and place then equal distance apart facing into the bag.

and pin like so-
now sew the bag closed, stitching (and back stitching) the ties in place. finish all edges.
now taking the bottom corners (ie: the end of the bag with out the ties)
bring each to a flat point and measure in roughly 2 1/2 inches (measure in farther for bigger bags)
draw a line across at this point
sew
trim off the corner
and finish the edge.
now, for this step you could use a large kitchen bowel, but we have an Ikea lamp that worked well last time
side bar: we call it the Hodan Lamp. Not the original Ikea name...
trace around your round object (or if youre brave, free hand it)
and making sure as to not cut through the other side, or the ties on the inside, cut out your circle.

turn the bag right side out through the hole you just made
take your bias tape and sew it with a slight zig zag stitch around your circle opening.
(I use a zig zag because I feel it "catches" all the layers)
hang up the bag, your done!
