Some one tell me how you spell pa-lou-za?
moving on-
My oldest and dearest friend has stuck with me from high school. Though getting married (after only meeting the guy three months before), though having a baby, though me putting M though school, and now raising that baby and still putting M though school. I guess she loves me.
I had been wanting to make her something for a while, and when I mentioned pajamas, she was all for it. I spent my time and really tried to think of a whole set. I didnt just want to make her some pj pants and throw in a store bought tank top or something. So while walking Mara (in the rain) one day it hit me.
below is the set I just sent her - what do you think?
It includes the pj pants, but also a cami and a pj-cardi (oh yeah, love the cardies)
I had first thought of making this cardi for myself (and I did!) but thought it would complement the pj-package nicely as we move into the colder months.
I had the Cami pattern kicking around - its a free down load from Fabric.com
and the pants are 1/2 a Martha pattern 1/2 my creation. I took a basic pants pattern and laid the front and back pieces out and cut each leg as a whole, see below.
therefore no side seam. it means less sewing (bummer right) but it makes for a nicer flow to the pants and youre also not bothered by the bulky side seam on your leg. it's the same shape you would find in a store bought pj pant.
(side bar - you know the quality of any legging/pj pant/ect by whether or not they have a side seam. many companies cut out the front and back of pants in four pieces to save on fabric, they can get more out of a bolt if they cut a lot of lil pieces instead of nice big panels)
I was really happy to have gotten the cardi and pants (and even this baby hoodie) out of the 4 yards that I had (from my yard sale find).
I went on to make myself a pair of pj pants in the same manner (with more yard sale stuff)
and with these I finished the leg hems with a double needle - love it. (no kidding, I get really excited when I get the chance to pull out my double needle!)
stay tuned for more pjs and a run down on the cardis!
